Success Stories

Nathans Story

In Nathan’s own words:
“I moved up from Brisbane in late May 2011. I had been living in Toowoomba for approximately 2 weeks before Personnel West found me a job at Rangeville school. Now I work before/after school care and vacation care. I have never loved a job before till they took me on board.
I have been at Rangeville for approximately 3 months now. I start my Diploma in Children’s Services soon and it will be a step closer to achieving my career goal. I just want to say if there are any guys out there who are willing to work with children or in the child care industry, don’t be ashamed as I had heaps of people tease me and I didn’t take it personally. There is not one day that is the same and the children just love having you around. The little boys love to have a male work at their centre. I have an awesome boss and the girls I work with are just amazing. I wake everyday and I just look forward to going to work and seeing the little children grow, and a smile on their face makes my day no matter what happens.”

Amanda Perfect For Artshop

Personnel West placed Amanda Broksch as a volunteer Custom Framing Assistant at Artshop, specialists in quality custom framing and art restoration. After 3 months, Director Cherylyn Stewart was so happy with Amanda’s work that she made her a paid part time employee. “Before that I’d had no work since 2000 due to illness,” says Amanda, who suffers from anxiety. “Personnel West has helped without a doubt. Work has been wonderful for me and boosted my confidence.” Says Cherylyn, “If you stretch a little to accommodate someone’s limits, they stretch themselves too, and the results can be amazing.”

Haley Cooks Up A Storm At St Ursula’s

“I like earning money, and I love cooking things”, says Haley Castle, 22, who was placed by Personnel West in a Kitchen Hand position at St Ursula’s College. Haley is profoundly deaf and communicates mainly through Auslan. Chef Pam Riches says, “Haley mostly understands what is being asked, or we write notes.” Haley finds that working has increased her independence and her confidence. Since working at St Ursula’s she has got her license and bought a car. Chef Manager Michael Tickner says, “Haley fulfils what we need, and brings to the job a good work ethic and reliability.”

Job Success For Jordan

Personnel West Employment Consultant Rick Fletcher successfully placed 15 year old Jordan in a food preparation position at Hungry Jack’s. Because Jordan has Asperger’s syndrome, he needs clear instruction and a little more time and repetition to master procedures. Jordan likes his work, and enjoys improving his new skills. His mother Leonie says, “Hungry Jacks provides a safe environment and has good rules for the way people treat each other. Rick’s support has helped make Jordan more independent of me.” Hungry Jack’s supervisor Chris commented, “Personnel West are reliable and give us the needed support. I’d tell other employers to give it a go.” After our interview Jordan was made Employee of the Month – well done Jordan!
